80th Birthday Celebration!

Weldon's Mom, Phyllis,
turned 80 last week!

We had considered having a HUGE party for her (inviting everyone she knows!), but that just didn't work. So my sister-in-law, Eva (-the-
Thoughtful!), suggested a "Card Shower" for her... PERFECT!

Eva asked for Phyllis's address book, under the guise of using it for something else, but Phyllis wouldn't COOPERATE with that! (I'm sure she would have if she had just known!) So the family got as many addresses as we could from one another and from online, and Eva sent out invitations. LOTS of wonderful friends and family sent cards and Eva put them in a big box to present to Phyllis at a dinner with the family. (We picked up Famous Dave's on the way!)

So lots of family and a couple of friends got to help celebrate on Phyllis's big day. I'm so glad God worked it all out the way He did, because Phyllis has been under a lot of stress, helping Ardell and worrying about him as he has been so weak after his kidney stone removal and the problems from it. We were sad that he couldn't be at the party, since he was still in the hospital. (He is still there - please pray for his recovery.)

I'll write more about my cake-making adventure later. Here are pictures and a short video of Phyllis's birthday. We missed all of you that couldn't be there -- thanks for all of the cards and calls! I think she had a pretty wonderful day!
