Unwise

I was SO encouraged this morning. I always feel like I’m doing a horrible job homeschooling my kids. Jonah is an excellent reader, and all the kids are very smart, and yet it doesn’t feel like the kind of “homeschool smart” I hear about and see around me. Like Alex & Brett Harris “Do Hard Things” kids. Kids who are good with words and good at speaking and arguing their faith.

Then, guess what? This morning at church, there were these words from 1 Cor 26-29:

26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him.

What a relief. I will try to get God’s Word into their hearts, and teach them what I can, and then God can change them and make them what He wants to make them (whether that's smart or not), and everyone will know it wasn’t because I was so brilliant and a great teacher. God will get all the credit.
