Oh, how did I forget to write about this one? Maybe it's just because I didn't take a picture of it (you'll be thankful, don't worry!)
This morning, Weldon asked if he had any milk (he uses skim, the rest of us use 2% -- until recently Paul also used whole). I went down to get the gallon that was in the basement fridge... the little one we inherited from our former renter (in our other house) last year. The same one Paul used to get into every couple of days to go through Julia's (our Russian girl this summer) yogurt, or eat her grapes and drop them on the floor, and leave the door open.
SO... I went down and opened the fridge... blech! Not only was the milk a couple of days past the "best if used by" date, but SOMEONE (Paul!) had turned the fridge off COMPLETELY. OH, it was so NASTY! The jug was swollen up and it had apparently been spewing out, because there was liquid (NOT milk, but some part of it) all over the sides and bottom of the fridge. The jug had solid "cheese" in the top and clear liquid in the bottom.
Not really the way I had planned to spend the beginning of my Saturday. But God reminded me to be thankful, so I decided that I WAS thankful that I found it when I did, before more things were growing in there. And now that I think about it, I'm REALLY thankful that it WAS on a Saturday, when I wasn't trying to get breakfast done and get school started!
NOW I'm thankful that I'm done with that cleanup and that the smell is starting to go away :)
